U.S. Consulate General Mumbai’s Principal Commercial Officer Camille Richardson inaugurated the Pune chapter of U.S. India Importers’ Council (USIIC) on November 22. Headquartered in Mumbai, the USIIC is a non-profit body dedicated to promoting U.S. exports in products and services into India.
USIIC members collectively import products and services to the tune of around $100 million from the United States. Through their Pune chapter, USIIC will offer assistance to Pune-based companies and especially SME companies in importing from the United States. During her remarks, Ms. Richardson highlighted the importance of U.S.-India bilateral business ties and the U.S. Commercial Service’s work to support imports, investment in the United States, financing from U.S. Ex-Im Bank, and the benefits of travel to the United States for corporate events and conferences.
